Niakwa On-Line News Brief
Volume 4 No. 17 Community News & Information September 15, 2000 In this Issue: * WIN32 PRINT LIBRARY TESTIMONIAL * WINDOWS 'ME' EVALUATION LOOKING GOOD WIN32 PRINT LIBRARY TESTIMONIAL We recently introduced a new library product to address both Windows printing issues, and allow true graphic printing through the Windows GDI interface. That product was shipped to all Gold Resellers on the 5.10 IDE Beta CD-ROM in July 2000. Since then we have received several positive comments about its usefulness to VARs, including this testimonial from John Cooney, Data Processing Associates: "I have spent the last two weeks or so converting more than two hundred programs in my application library to use the new GP Print Library. I love it! Now I can tell my clients I don't care what kind of printer they buy. If it's got a Windows driver, they can just plug it in and run. No configuration problems." "When I eventually retire and the company hires a 25 year old code warrior to support the system, the kid won't be 'blown away' by trying to understand passing HEX codes to the printer to control things." "I think this is a very important product - it's time for Niakwa to raise the banners, strike up the band and shout about this to the entire NPL community!" Thank you, John. We agree. Even before you retire, you may want the help of a 25 year old code warrior to help with development and support - and now with the print drivers and Niakwa Workbench NPL is a much more appealing and recognizable environment! Note: The Win32 Print Library require NPL version 5.00 or greater. This is just one of the many reasons you should be developing in Revision 5.0. All of the latest and greatest NPL tools work in the modern and structured environment offered in Release V, tools such as the Workbench Debugger which let you open multiple Windows and do multiple development tasks at the same time, or allows several programmers to develop in the same program without conflicts. For more details on receiving the Workbench Debugger and NPL Release V, please contact sales@niakwa.com.
WINDOWS 'ME' EVALUATION LOOKING GOOD As you probably know, Windows' latest Millennium Edition (ME) is officially available as of September 14th. So you will probably also be happy to know that Niakwa is taking 'ME' through a large battery of tests. The initial results are good, but we need more time to be fully satisfied. Our plans are to fully test ME with our current field release 5.01.07, as well as our latest maintenance release. At the moment we're "juggling" our technical resources between this project, the IP Alpha Release, and various important technical support items, so we thank you for your patience. We'll notify you via email once the final test results are completed. Like Windows 98, Windows ME will only be supported under 32-bit NPL Release V versions. |
