Completely standalone with an interactive console AND scripting... powerful scripting with conditional branching.   Easily invoked to do an applications bidding by $sh**l.   Apparently "$ s h e l l " is a bad word...

I used it for years to do EDI ANSI X12 with all of the major retail trading partners and many BCBS entities.

It would dial the phone, log in, upload files, download files, create detailed logs, and hang up.

... The world has moved on to bigger and better transfer methods, still it was pretty kewl in its day.
